Creating your own web page

Students can create their own web page, by creating the own site on their W drive. This is connected each time they logon to any DIS lab computer.
To see how much space the department provides you to create your page, click here. (Note: Undergraduates are only provided space to create a personal website if it is required for a specific subject.)

You must have a file named 'home.htm' located within your W drive. If this file is missing, your page will not be published.

I get an error when I try to browse external websites

If you get an error such as "Your account is locked out or you have exceeded your quota", when you try to browse websites external to the University, you have most likely used more than your allocated weekly Internet Quota.

Undergraduate students are only allowed to download a maximum of 250mb of data from external websitses each week.

Postgraduate students are only allowed to download a maximum of 350mb of data from external websitses each week.

This quota does not apply to Univesity websites. So even if you get an error like the one listed above, you will still be able to browse all University websites without any restrictions.

Your weekly Internet Quota is reset at midnight Sunday each week. So if you have exceeded your quota before then, you will need to wait until midnight Sunday of that week, before a new Internet quota is applied to your account for the coming week
