Mailing Lists

NameEmail
DIS Honoursc-844 @ studentlists.unimelb.edu.au
DIS MPhil (Information Systems)s-615602 @ studentlists.unimelb.edu.au
DIS MSc (Information Systems)c-r05-ri @ studentlists.unimelb.edu.au
DIS PhDs-615701 @ studentlists.unimelb.edu.au

NOTE: Students can only email individual mailing lists to which they are a member of – i.e. Students can only email subject/course mailing lists which they are officially enrolled in.

Bounce Messages from Mailing lists you are not authorised to email
If you attempt to email a list that you are not a member of (i.e. you are not enrolled in that subject/course), you will receive a rejection notice email that will state something similar to
“You are not allowed to post to this mailing list, and your message has been automatically rejected.  If you think that your messages are being rejected in error, contact the mailing list owner at c-r05-ri-owner@studentlists.unimelb.edu.au.”

Size limits on emails sent to Mailing lists
All mailing lists have a maximum allowed email size (message + attachments) of 300KB.  If you attempt to send an email larger than this you will receive a bounce message, that will look similar to:
“Your mail to 'C-r05-ri' with the subject
Example email
has been rejected.
The reason it has been rejected:
Message body is too big: 970489 bytes with a limit of 300 KB”

Seeing who is a member of a mailing list
Unfortunately there is no method to see who is part of a mailing list.   However, any student who has enrolled in the subject or course that the mailing list is for and has activated their account via http://accounts.unimelb.edu.au/  will be a member of the list.
