MIS Staff

The Master of Information Systems is taught by academics with an extensive background in industry and world-leading Information Systems research.  Atif Ahmad Dr Atif Ahmad's research, teaching and consulting interests revolve around security risk assessment and knowledge protection. Atif has worked as an Information Security Consultant for a number of leading consulting firms. He is a Chief Investigator in RNSA (Research Network for a Secure Australia), the first national attempt at bringing together elements of industry, education and government to protect Australia's critical infrastructure. Atif is a Certified Protection Professional with the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS).
   
 Rachelle Bosua

Dr Rachelle Bosua's undergraduate studies are in Computer Science and Software Engineering. Undergraduate teaching includes programming languages e.g. Java and Python, Systems Analysis and Design, and Informatics.
Her research interests include social networks  and knowledge sharing in teams and workgroups.

   
 Mark Dale Mark Dale specialises in IS strategy and planning with particular reference to Enterprise systems and also Data Warehousing in the financial services industry.  He has consulted to national and international companies in the areas of Data Warehouse strategy and operational requirements.  Currently, Mark is assisting a client in understanding their resource requirements for enterprise financial systems and Data Warehouse development after a number of significant acquisitions.  Mark teaches Enterprise Architecture and E-Business Applications.
   
 Martin Gibbs Dr Martin Gibbs' teaching focus is on professional development for information systems students as well as the social, legal and ethical issues and dilemmas surrounding information and communication technologies in contemporary society. He is also involved in teaching research methods.

He is currently investigating how people use a variety of interactive technologies (video games, community networks, mobile phones, etc.) for convivial and sociable purposes in a variety of locations (the family home, local neighborhoods, and online multiplayer computer games).
   
 Sherah Kurnia Dr Sherah Kurnia teaches Business-to-Business Electronic Commerce (EC) at MIS level. Her research interests are in supply chain management and adoption of technologies. She has been working on an ARC project exploring the adoption of EC-enabled supply chain management in developing countries.
   
   
Peter Seddon

Associate Professor Peter Seddon teaches Enterprise Systems and ICT Outsourcing Fundamentals at MIS level. His major publications have been in the areas of evaluating information systems success, packaged enterprise application software, IT outsourcing and accounting information systems. Peter is currently serving as a senior editor for MIS Quarterly.

     
 Graeme Shanks

Graeme Shanks is a Professor of Information Systems at the University of Melbourne. Graeme has previously worked as a programmer, programmer-analyst and project leader in several large organisations. He has led a variety of research projects funded by the Australian Research Council, SAP, Novell and Telstra.

 
     
 Wally Smith Dr Wally Smith is interested in interaction design, knowledge management, and the social aspects of IT systems. He is currently working on a mobile multi-media project with The Shrine of Remembrance and on a simulation to support smarter domestic water consumption.  
     

Chris Waddel

Chris Waddel has a background in a wide range of business planning and management skills, project management, quality management and risk management.He has a broad base of experience in media, telecommunications, health, finance and local government, both locally and overseas.

He is a specialist project director, and has extensive experience as a technical and administrative line manager.Chris teaches Advanced Project Management 615-659 and Models of Project Management 615-684.

 
     
 Bob Warfield Dr Robert Warfield is a consultant in the telecommunications industry and a Sessional Lecturer, teaching 615682 IS Project and Change management in the MIS Program. He has many years experience as a researcher in Australia and USA, and has also developed solutions including Information Systems for Telstra. He has worked as an advisor on Telecommunications Regulatory issues and as a Product and Project Manager for a competitive carrier called Request Broadband.
