Welcome to Postgraduate study in the Department of Information Systems

Undertaking a post-graduate degree is an important step in a professional career. It provides an opportunity to reflect on one's experiences and to integrate new knowledge and skills for the future. It is important to be selective in choosing a postgraduate program. The program should suit your career aspirations, offer flexibility and deliver quality educational outcomes.

The Department's two research programs, the Master of Information Systems by Research and the PhD, attract high quality students from across Australia and the world, led by supervisors who are experts in their fields of interest. Doctoral degrees at the University of Melbourne seek to develop graduates who demonstrate academic leadership, increasing independence, creativity and innovation in their research work. Professional doctoral studies also provide advanced training designed to enhance professional knowledge in a specialist area, and encourage the acquisition of a wide range of advanced and transferable skills.

Our aim is to provide an intellectually stimulating, challenging, rewarding and supportive environment for our students. We are committed to the development of tomorrow's IS leaders in research and industry. I welcome you to the Department of Information Systems and invite you to consider our postgraduate research programs.
